The Upper Mustang region is classified as a restricted area, and much of the region, including its trekking trails, also lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area. Foreigners are required to obtain a Restricted Area Permit in addition to an Annapurna Conservation entry permit to trek in Upper Mustang.

For Nepali Nationals: Nepali Rupees 100
For SAARC Nationals: Nepali Rupees 1,000.
For other Nationals (other than SAARC countries): Nepali Rupees 3,000.

Trekkers are required to obtain individual Entry Permits for visiting Annapuran Conservation Area.

Two passport size photographs are required while applying for each Entry Permit.
