The quickest way is to fly (Duration 45m.) from Kathmandu Airport (1338m.) to Lukla airport (2860m.), high in the Himalayas. From here, it's a couple of days' walk to Namche Bazar, the Sherpa capital of theEverest area. You'll need at least a couple of days here to acclimatise to the altitude, and then about five to seven days to walk to the Base Camp
