Nalinchok Helipad came in operational from June 21 2024

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has officially commenced the operations from new heliport constructed at Nalinchwok, Bhaktapur District, 16 Km s east of Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. 

The helipad at Nalinchok in Bhaktapur is now operational from 21 June, 2024. This Helipad here has been Built to manage the air traffic of Tribhuvan International Airport, the helipad can accommodate more than17 helicopters.

The helipad built at Nalinchok in Bhaktapur has been inaugurated on 21 June of year 2024 with the plan to reduce the air traffic pressure of Tribhuvan International  Airport.

Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Hit Bahadur Tamang inaugurated the helipad on Friday of 21 June in year 2024. Tourism Minister Tamang said that the ministry is working on policy and structural changes to ensure safe and reliable air travel. He highlighted the success of the new helipad in Bhaktapur as a significant step for civil aviation.

 

The Civil Aviation Authority stated that the new helipad will help manage the flight pressure at the international airport. Civil engineer Vinayak Bhattarai explained that the helipad can accommodate four helicopters at a time and has space to park 17 helicopters.

During the inauguration, helicopters from various airlines landed at the new helipad. Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority, along with the tourism minister and helicopter company representatives, flew from the international airport to Nalinchok by helicopter.

According to Jagannath Niraula, General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport, flights will now take place across the country from the heliport built by the authority at a cost of nearly 120 million rupees. "Only priority helicopters, including emergency and medical flights, will be allowed to land at Tribhuvan International Airport," General Manager Niraula said. "Remaining tourist charter flights will be from Nalinchok."

 

The Aviation Authority reported that the helipad was built at a cost of Rs 11 crore. Currently, there are about 40 helicopters from 12 different service providers operating in the country.This helipad has been built on an area of ​​32 ropani in Nalinchok, Suryabinayak Municipality-10 of Bhaktapur which is about 16 km away in distance from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal.
